You can run anything without the " gear " on the label indicating energy conserving as long as it meets OEM spec which now is about any 10/40 oil. I know one 1989 that has used Castrol 10/40 from day one without problems, in fact it`s a darn good oil. That said, Mobil 1 the old Red cap is in mine now but Amsoil, Shell Rot Syn, and Castrol have all had their turn at onetime or another. Al

Amsoil, 10-40 ,  shifts smoother, but I think motor is louder now? might go back to 10-40 Castrol like Shep used for years.

Ya, but you can run it for 16,000 miles when you use there filter too. I use there 10w-30 but may go to the 10w-40 because I have 2 gal. I need to use up.

I guess I should explain How I got that FREE high dollar stuff,  I work part time for a Oil field trucking co.
he ordered a Barrel of that chit and didnt want it, BUT someome opened it and used some and left the lid off for a year.. So he was loading it for the Dump,,,I asked if could have it.
Been using it in wifes mini van, her little car takes 5-20 so cant use it.and the Wing once, But only have 1000 miles on the wing since brought home from the US .water settles to bottom, so no issues so far ,have 3/4 barrel left.
So there was no big bucks spent on that chit, otherwise I would put 15-40 Diesal oil in it, all my wings have had that.

I left it in the 1500, motor seems queiter now. only 2100 miles on it, just as clean as when I poured it in, also put in in the other wing now, shifts nicer too. put it in the 2 yamaha Quads too.should last for years the way I put miles on.
