GL1800 Tires

Besides the dark side -- what tires are you guys using.

With a little over 9K miles on the bike now and a 3400 mile trip coming up, pretty sure I will need tires when I get back so I want to get some ordered.

Wow!! Opening up a can of worms!! I've had DunFlops, Avon Venoms, and Elite 3 on my 03 before I went to a trike last fall. Had the best luck with the 3's. JMO.

On my 1st set of tires on the 1800. It had E3s when I bought it and couldn't wait to get them off. Currently running Bridgestone 709s with a little over 12K miles on the front and they are holding up well. No cupping and no problems (I am not an aggressive rider). Dark sider on the rear.

I don't like the hard rubber of Dunlops. I prefer Stones are Metzlers. Mostly Metzler. It feels good, I jut go through them so fast. No more car tire for me. Gave it a fair try and I'm not comfortable with it.

I actually ordered a set of Shinko radials.

Based on the one on my 1500 and the price difference they seem fine to me.

My 1500 currently has a Shinko on the rear (Bias) and wear has been good as well as the ride. GoofyFixer (Greg) has used them as well and was happy with them.

Obviously the radial is a totally different tire but I thought the manufacturer deserved a shot.

It doesn't look like I will need to install them until spring, I still have some ride on the tire I have now but I expect I will be riding the Shinko by the time the Traveling Picnic rolls around next year.
