This was taken from the RA board. It is from Tony Melendy's daughter.

Hello everyone. This is Tony's daughter Mindy.

On May 31'st Dad was taken to the hospital via ambulance because he couldn't breathe. The infection he had earlier in the month returned stronger than before and due to the weakness of his lungs he couldn't fight it on his own. He chose to be placed on a ventilator while trying to fight the infection. Unfortunately on Friday we found out that his kidneys were also failing and the kidney doctor did not think his heart or lungs could handle him being put through dialysis. On Saturday June 9th, my father passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

His visitation will be on Wednesday June 13th from 3-9pm at Lawn Funeral Home in Burbank, IL (79th and State Rd).

Thanks to everyone for the support given to my father for the past couple months. It's been rough, and all I can hope is that he's now breathing freely.

Very sad news.  Tony was a fighter, and endured many set backs in his health the last few years, yet always seemed to stay positive.  I met him at a couple of the Traveling Picnics, he was a true gentleman and an interesting guy to talk with. RIP Tony

Damn. Very sorry to hear that. Tony and I spent a lot of time chatting together at TP 2010. A real gentleman.

Dang! Joked around with him on the internet a lot. He came to GPR at least once, but I lost a couple years of records and can't say which year(s).

Wow, you never know when it's coming.     Talked with him several times about road conditions in Chicago when I was going to the airport.   He lived not far from Midway.    RIP Tony !!

My thoughts will be with his family as they go through this loss.  I met Tony in person at the TP I attended.

Our condolences to Tony's family.  Visited with him a number of times at the Davis Rally in Iowa.  Always enjoyed his posts.

Rest In Peace, Tony.
